Breast enlargement
What is breast enlargement?
Breast enlargement (also called breast augmentation) is a surgical procedure that increases the size and improves the shape of the breasts. It’s usually done using implants, though in some cases it can be performed with fat transfer using your own body fat.
What types are available?
There are three main approaches: implants (silicone gel or saline), fat transfer using purified fat from another area of your body, and in selected cases, minimally invasive volumising techniques. Your surgeon will explain which options are suitable and safest for you.
Who is a good candidate?
Good candidates are generally in good health, with fully developed breasts, who would like to enhance size, correct natural asymmetry, or restore volume lost after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight changes. Your surgeon will also make sure your expectations are realistic and that surgery is the right choice for you.
How long does surgery take?
Breast enlargement usually takes around one to two hours, depending on the technique and whether it’s a first-time or more complex procedure.
What’s the typical recovery time?
Most people return to desk-based work and light activities within one to two weeks. Swelling and tightness settle over several weeks, and the breasts continue to soften and settle over a few months. Full healing and final results can take several months.
What implant options are there?
The two main types are silicone gel implants, known for a softer, more natural feel, and saline implants, filled with a sterile salt-water solution. We use only high-quality, CE-marked implants from trusted manufacturers, and your surgeon will recommend the type, shape and placement that best suit your body and goals.
Where are the incisions and will there be scars?
Common incision sites are in the fold under the breast, around the edge of the areola, or in the armpit area. All scars fade over time, though their final appearance depends on the incision position, your skin type and how you heal. Your surgeon will discuss the most discreet approach for you and how to care for your scars.
Can I breastfeed afterwards?
Many women can still breastfeed after breast enlargement, though this depends on the surgical technique and implant position. Your surgeon will explain any potential impact and aim to minimise disruption to breast tissue and milk ducts wherever possible.
Who will perform my surgery?
All breast enlargement procedures are carried out by GMC-registered consultant plastic or breast surgeons, including Mr Abd El Gawad, Mr Khalil and Mr Sharif, who have extensive experience in both first-time and revision breast surgery and focus on safe, natural-looking results.
What’s the guide price and what’s included?
[Confirm current pricing.] As a guide, breast enlargement is around £6,000, as a fully inclusive package covering consultations, hospital and theatre fees, anaesthetist, implants, follow-up appointments and structured post-surgery aftercare — with no hidden extras.
What aftercare will I receive?
Aftercare is a key part of your journey. You’ll be supported by our dedicated nurse, Elaine, who works closely with your surgeon to monitor your recovery, with scheduled check-ups and easy access to the team whenever you have a question.
Breast implant replacement
Who performs implant replacement?
All implant replacement (revision breast surgery) is carried out by GMC-registered consultant surgeons, including Mr Abd El Gawad, Mr Khalil and Mr Sharif. Revision surgery is more complex than first-time augmentation, so it matters that your surgeon is highly experienced in both aesthetic and reconstructive breast procedures.
What implants are used and why?
We use only premium, CE-marked implants from globally recognised manufacturers known for safety, durability and excellent results. Your surgeon will explain the options, such as silicone or cohesive gel implants in round or anatomical shapes, and recommend the best match for your anatomy and the reasons for your replacement.
What happens to my existing implant pocket and scar tissue?
Managing the existing pocket and capsule (scar tissue) is a vital part of revision surgery. Your surgeon may refine or tighten the pocket, recreate it, or remove hardened scar tissue (capsulectomy) to help your new implants sit comfortably and naturally.
Will my size and shape options be different from my first surgery?
They may be. Breast tissue and skin often change over time. Your surgeon will reassess your current shape, skin quality and proportions, then guide you through realistic options that suit your body now — and you can try implant sizers to see how different volumes look and feel.
What’s recovery like?
Recovery depends on the complexity of your surgery, but most people return to light activity or desk work within about seven to ten days and gradually resume exercise after around six weeks, with swelling and tenderness settling over the following weeks. You’ll have a personalised recovery plan and ongoing support from our nursing team.
What does it cost and what’s included?
As a guide, breast implant replacement starts from around £7,000, depending on complexity and implant choice, and typically includes surgeon and anaesthetist fees, all hospital and theatre costs, new implants, follow-up appointments and structured aftercare.
